To search for Simorgh* in Far East

Tomorrow, the 16th

Your handy moderator (Pater of the Mithraeum) here after hearing that there's actually been activity in the Mithraeum!
Tomorrow is the 16th of the month and it is the last Mithraic Holiday before Autumnal equinox.
For tomorrow I have divised a series of exercises to develop our spiritual discipline for the Undefeated One.
After a brief sun salute tomorrow, let's think about the esoteric second layer to the tragedy that took place in the Eastern Mediterranean today: An airliner named Helios plowed into the mountains.
After meditating, place discuss and possibly share your feelings with the Mithraeum. I know I will.

Share your Equinox experiences

Nama one and all.
It's your old long lost Mithraic moderator here.
Did anybody partake of any traditional or home brewed rituals for the Equinox? Any experiences or insights gained thru the same?

About a year ago this time I had a vision regarding the symbol of the eagle as a stand-in for Juppiter/Zeus.
Think of that everywhere you see the Eagle representing the State. Our faith in the wrathful old Sky Father (Dyaus Pater, root of Jupiter and Zeus) no longer has a grip on us, yet we still live in fear of another would-be all powerful entity symbolized by the Eagle.

Hey how about that Rosicrucian star show?

Went to see the star show at the Rosicrucian planetareum. It was a bit on the facile side and was entirely and uncritically about the Ulansey astronomical interpretation of Mithraism. I for one had a few issues, like the statement that the religion just magically appeared in Asia Minor in 168 BC, when in fact written documents over a thousand years old make reference to Mithra.

Don't forget the 16th!

The 16th of each omnth is the MidPoint, and as point of balance is sacred to Mithras. Think thoughts about eternal unbounded time. Meditate on the eternally recurring birth, death and rebirth of the sun and say simple prayers to the sun at sunrise, noon and sunset.
